Not So Different by directed by Don Arioli

Not So Different a 1985 film directed by Don Arioli and produced by the National Film Board of Canada is a narrative of the “Land of Sameness”. Not So Different is a children’s resource which would allow them to critically analyze their surroundings to gain knowledge of importance in accepting “differentness” without discrimination. The Land of Sameness portrays negative effects of cultural blindness as well as discrimination. The film allows young individuals to see that being treated the same does not equal equity and can even hinder social development. Not So Different allows children to see that accommodation, according to an individual and or community’s need, is a crucial part in ensuring equity and fairness for all.
